There was a seminar in the IT Faculty yesterday on 'Publishing in Refereed Journal- Experience Sharing'. Four speakers were invited. Initially, the seminar was meant for lecturers and researchers but it turned out that more postgraduate students attended it. Some interesting quotes from the speakers for share:
~We are in the business of 'knowledge creation'. We are researchers.
~Research is to see what everyone sees, but to think in a way no one else think.
~I am a true academic, therefore I publish.
~Create a gap for study for advancement of knowledge, so you have to know your field.
And in consensus, all speakers emphasize the importance of 'READING'.
I felt motivated. But not sure how long it will last. Hopefully it will. It's almost 1 year into my PhD study and I haven't been progressing much. Keep doing, keep writing, keep thinking.
