HG sms to ask me whether I felt nervous. I said I was ok, although previously I heard a lot from friends with regards to how painful or how uncomfortable it would be. Nevertheless, I still told Dad to cook porridge for me as lunch, just in case. Hehe.
10.30am, I arrived at the dental clinic. It took me more than an hour's time to get everything done. Polishing, sticking the brackets onto my teeth, fitting the wires etc.
That's me lying on the bench. The process is actually painless, just that it needs patience, and you need to open your mouth really wide.
ZP decided to use the light wire for me, since I am pain-sensitive kind of person. When he clipped the wires onto the brackets, I could feel 'force' in my teeth. Not pain, but force. I'm not sure how to put it in words, but it's not the kind of pain that I imagined. And as I chose to use the ceramic type brackets instead of metal for my front teeth, it is a little more uncomfortable because the ceramic ones are thicker. So the brackets will 'scratch' my inner lips. I was given wax to help ease the discomforts.
Although I said initially it is not painful as in being cut by knife or etc, the 'force' is strong that after a few hours later I gradually feel the pain. (Especially at the roots of teeth. ) And with time, the pain increases. I now could hardly touch my lower front teeth. I feel the 'force' especially when i bite or eat or swallow. So I guess maybe the pain comes gradually? (According to ZP, the light wire i use is 'level 1 kind of pain'.)
Actually ZP asked if I would like to do the upper teeth first then next time the lower teeth, but then I decided to do it one go. With the hope that if it is painful, I don't have to suffer twice. I heard that some people suffered so much that they could only eat porridge for weeks.
My new braces look. I'll look like this whenever I smile now onwards for at least 2 years. In the mean time, I need to start looking for small portable mirror that I could carry everywhere I go. And maintaining the cleanliness of my teeth will be my utmost priority now and then. Good luck to me!
