Taiwan Trip Part 6- Taichung

Initially, it's not in our original schedule to go to Taichung. We should actually go to the aboriginal people cultural village in Pintung (which I really look forward to) but due to the approaching typhoon, the tour guide altered the plan. See? The typhoon came in strong wind and rains.
So, instead of cultural park, we went to a science park (or something like that) in Taichung.

The most worth looking thing here is this the tropic of cancer.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropic_of_Cancer)
Other than that, I should say it's pretty boring, more like a science museum for kids. None of us were really interested with this place. The rain made it even worse and we just wanted to get back to Miaoli as soon as possible. Luckily, our tour guide arranged for a nice lunch at this oriental restaurant in Taichung.
according to tour guide, the chicken rice in Taichung is the best. But to me it's a bit oily and the taste? so so nia lo.
After lunch, we went to a unique museum in Jiji.

It is actually the remaining of a school which was affected badly in the Taiwan 921 earthquake. They keep the building as it is (strengthen the ruins using extra pillars etc) and turn it into an earthquake museum to educate people about earthquake. For someone like me, who come from an earthquake free country, it is difficult to imagine the feeling of it, so I got the chance to try this:
the experience theatre mimicking a living room of a house. Everyone is instructed to sit on the cushions on the floor. No standing is allowed throughout the 5 mins experience.

Although the scale of earthquake that we experienced in the theatre was not as scary as I thought, imagine if one is in the middle of deep sleep and things start falling off from above and side, floor is moving etc. It can be pretty scary! And don't forget that people lose their lives too.
