When are you finishing? What do you want to do after finish (graduate)?
Someone asked me these questions just an hour ago. Normally I avoid answering such questions if I could (see 10 things not to ask a PhD) because they are so not easy to answer. It depends on many things that sometimes (or most of the times) are out of my hands. Especially when this is RESEARCH that we are talking. Not baking cake or making sushi. Anyway, I still answered him as I was under 'pressure' to answer. (Just joking) It's actually because he's someone of respect and maybe would have understood our nature of work. Later I found out that he meant no harm and probably may bring me good opportunity in future (although again this is uncertain too, haha).
Anyhow, for the time being, I just wanna concentrate and focus on my labwork. Like what my boss advised, "Don't worry about your examiners or viva yet, you should be worrying about your work." Very true indeed. I should nail my head dead to the floor and do whatever that has to be done. First thing first. There will be time to think about those big difficult questions, but definitely not now.
Keep doing, keep thinking, keep writing!
