Random thoughts

So much had happened this CNY.

First, the chaos in Egypt. I am not a person who favors changes, but I think sometimes a change can be good, in order to improve or progress further. Yet, I'm totally against drastic kind of change which involves war, weapons or violence. A change can be revolutionary but not necessarily bloody. It's a matter of choice.

Secondly, there were a few news about suicidal deaths. It's always sad to hear such news. Life is so priceless, why does one let it go so easily? I sometimes wonder what have gone wrong with us? We have no mercy on others, and not even on ourselves. We seem to own many things if we compare ourselves to our parental generations. Yet we complain that we are stressed up, that we do not see hope in life..... Can it be that we are too abundant with resources that we sometimes forget how much we are blessed with? We only look narrowly, focusing on our own sorrows and sadness, and think that they are the entire world, but we forget to look around and look beyond, that there are still many people who strive very hard to live but they never give up. And there are still many things that we could do to make the earth a better place, rather than mourning on our own sorrows. It's again a matter of choice.

Thirdly, I met a few relatives and friends who have let go Malaysian nationality, or at least some of them is considering of migrating elsewhere. I feel so sad but I couldn't blame them because everyone has the right to go after a better life. It's really a mix complicated feeling that I feel about my own home country, the place I called tanah air. I love my country, and I believe those many who left this country to work or live in another country also do. But how many more years do we have to wait until she could finally realise that we actually love her that deeply? Do we have to wait until we are totally incompetent internationally? Is 50,000 people who left the country not a big number? How many more talents could we afford to lose? Forget about vision 2020 or 1 Malaysia. They are just slogans. But I'm still holding on to the hope that Malaysia will change and improve with a better future. And I'll make sure that I'm not left behind in the process.

It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities. ~J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, 1999, spoken by the character Albus Dumbledore
