What happened in bookstore this Valentine's Day

During Valentine's day, while I was browsing through a book in a corner of a bookstore, a kid in his kindy uniform who was running around suddenly stopped next to me and asked 'Aunty, do you have candy? Can you give me some?' I told him no and he furthered, 'Can you look into your bag? Maybe you have leh?' I told him again I didn't have any.
Then he asked me 'What happened to your teeth?', pointing to my braces. I noticed his upper row of teeth were all decayed and some lower teeth were black in colour, so I replied 'I eat too much candy and don't brush my teeth, so dentist tied all my teeth up.' I thought that would have scared him away and left me alone in peace. But who knows he asked 'So is your teeth shaky?' 'Yes.' 'Can you touch and move them with your fingers so that I can see they are shaky?' I could see birds circling above my head and 3 strips of sweat flowing down my forehead. 'I have to go over there to look at other books,' I then quickly moved to other section.
'Oh, I also want to go there!' And he followed. 'Can you buy me a chop?' (those little stamping chops that produce cartoons when you stamp onto paper) I turned him down yet he asked why. 'I don't know you.' I decided to use a more 'stern' approach. 'But can you buy me 2 chops?' I failed. 'Cannot, I have not enough money to buy books later.' 'Can you buy me 1 then?' 'Where's your mummy? Go ask her to buy you one.' He pointed to a lady busy looking at stationary and shook his head, eyes wide opened. 'You buy me 1 lah, I'll go look at how much it cost.' 'Go and ask your mummy. Ask her to buy you one.' So finally he gathered his courage and ran towards his mother.
Phew...I felt a sense of relief. 'Aunty,' there came his voice. Not again? What's it this time? 'My mum will buy me a chop!' said the boy happily. I grabbed the book I wanted and proceed to paying counter then ran off in no time.

Lessons I learned from the incidence:
1. I am an 'aunty', no more 'jie jie'.
2. I don't like to be disturbed when I'm reading or browsing through books in a bookstore.
3. I'm afraid of kids who are very 'sticky'. Seriously, I was thinking of how to get away from him but not making him feel bad.
4. I must look very kind that he dared to approach me and keep talking with me, without worrying that I'll kidnapped him or poisoned him with candy or whatsoever.
5. Parents, please look after your children whenever you go shopping. Not everyone your child met is as good as I am.
and most importantly
6. Children are really the most persistent walking creatures on earth.

Haha! That's the innocent part of kids! Next time you'll have yours. It's a good practice to train your patience.
