I checked my last entry on food, it's dated Dec 2010. Man, I haven't been going around trying out new dining venue for almost a year? Anyway, we went last night. If you have been following this blog long enough, you'll know that I'm a Japanese sushi fans. And I've tried out most of the Japanese restaurants in Kuching eg. Ten ichi, Kensaku, Rakutei, Momoyama, Sangha... I've heard that there's an old Jap restaurant somewhere near Rubber Rd for long but have never been there (cause rumours say the price is $$$). Finally, my dream comes true in 2012.

The interior, feels like the one you see in Japanese drama |

I took a photo of the Chef without him knowing but he smiled at me after he realised the flash |
My order Ten Zaru Soba@RM13
|
Compare to the one that I used to have in Kensaku, the soba portion is smaller but price also cheaper. And I like the soup/sauce that you dip your soba, not as salty as Kensaku's. Just nice. |
And of course we ordered some maki sushi
|
Left: Ura maki Right: Futo maki |

The rolls form a love shape. How sweet! |
How about the taste of these sushi rolls? Man, they are really nice! The vinegar is just nice, not covering the taste of the other fillings but enhances their taste. And the rice are not as sticky and also not too dry. And as you could see for yourself, the fillings are very 'visible', genuinely you taste what you see! I should say to date this is the best for the price that I pay.

teppanyaki beef with rice set. all the sets come with jelly for dessert |
|
Teppanyaki tori. I tried a 'cube' of this. Nice charcoal smell! |
|
Chawan mushi! If you like steam eggs, this is a must try. The texture is so smooth, and there is no bubble or break in between. And the sweetness is just nice, not too much. Not that you'll feel 'thirsty after eating' kind (that happens normally when Ajinomoto is heavily used) |

Fried Kaki |
So far, out of those restaurants that I've been to, not all sell fried kaki or oysters and among them, I think Ten Ichi's is the best. Now that I tried Minoru's, I think theirs are equally good (but I need to check this out because I haven't been to Ten Ichi for quite sometime, and that last time I went their Sushi quality dropped. My other friend who went back there after some time said their standard is back, so I need to re-confirm.) Anyhow, back to the fried kaki, the outer layer is crispy but you don't feel like eating a layer of flour coating. The inner fillings are juicy yet not 'smashed' into mud-like.

Tempura bento |
One thing about their tempura style stuffs is that the coating is just nice. But I think the chicken skewers taste even better. I like the Charcoal smell with the terriyaki sauce!
Price wise, five of us went with each ordering a set of meal, plus sushi maki for share, with green tea, it costs about RM200. So, it's about the price of going to Ten-Ichi, Rakutei or even maybe Kensaku (after their increment in price just few months back). I'll definetly re-visit this restaurant again.

这是你妹介绍的blog,想请教有关Minoru Japaneses Restaurant,可私下用email 还是什么方式联络吗?
oh, hi. you can just leave your message here. there's another Jap restaurant -> Ten Ichi also not bad.

Thanks for the info! Cool blog btw =)
