Successful research scientist

They say in order to be a successful research scientist, one has to have at least 4 of the following:
  • extremely motivated
  • creative
  • very smart
  • very hardworking
  • very skillful in the lab (or good at computer)
  • very lucky

Lulu's interpretation on this:

Since it is very difficult to be lucky (or else she'll have striked jackpot), or to be smart (if she's smart enough, she'll have opt for $$$ making and never research), thus she can only count on the rest. Yet, even these expectations seem so not possible to meet. Maybe Lulu has chosen a wrong career path?
