Being a research student I enjoy lots of freedom I would say. But for someone like me who couldn't exercise great discipline (in other word = LAZY), this freedom can be abused at times, and results in lack of productivity. Ha.
I have been reminding myself that I should start writing my annual progress report since January. I told myself I should get the umbrella ready before it rains and also to take stock of what I've accomplished so far. Yet, until now, after I was informed by postgrad office that the report due on 2nd of March, there's still no sign of the umbrella... And here I am, sitting in front of the computer, cracking my head, determined to come out with at least a word to get the ball rolling. Well, maybe I could excuse myself for being sick during CNY, and also right after valentine. Flu, dizziness, sore throat and coughing all came attacking me. But deep down inside my heart I knew that excuse is not a good one.
Research can be fun when you have something interesting going on. Some promising data, exciting events. I'm ok with doing labwork, meetings or even presentations. Reading articles or papers sometimes can be tough, especially when reading those 'You don't understand what I say' kind of scientific reports, but it is never as pain stacking as WRITING.
And too bad, writing scientific/academic report is something that has to be made routine in the life of a researcher.
