Now, this training in Taiwan is a wonderful experience for me because this is my first time travelling alone to places outside Malaysia. Actually, my mum kinda worry as I'm a forgetful person. However, not only I managed to come back in one piece, I toured a bit in Taipei after the training! And i felt a sense of accomplishment after that. Haha.
The training is great not because of the program design itself but also the many people I met. People of different cultures and background, with different living/research styles and speak different languages. We spent many wonderful days together and it's indeed a memorable experience.
Inspiring scientists/ researchers:
Friends:This is my Polish roommate, Maria. She's a pretty blonde girl. We shared this room for 2 weeks.
Michelle from Sydney U and Siew Hua from Malaya U. I hanged out with them most of the time.
Narisorn from Thailand and Vasilli from Bellarus (195cm tall). Vasilli is the tallest among us. He drinks a lot of milk, at least from what I observed during the training.
And last but not least,
the members of Group 2- Feilong from China, Wendy (our TA), Giselle from Brazil, Leo from Taiwan and me. We did our experiments together and the 3 of us sometimes discussing in Mandarin (when urgent) drove Giselle nuts but she could only wait patiently for us to finish discussing and translated the contents to her. Haha. Feilong represented our group in presenting our experimental results and findings on the last day of training. He did a good job on that. He'll be leaving for Harvard U to do his postdoc soon and all the best to him.

wah it looked so fun! u must have gained a lot from this training!
yk: in terms of direct knowledge input, the lessons are so intensive that i can only 'cope' and not 'digest'. the hands-on was great but what i truely appreciate is the chance to interact and learn from other trainees and researchers. they really are passionate towards research.
