I was chatting with an old friend the other day. She told me she didn't feel the urge to have a married life yet although there are potential candidates around her. She's pretty happy with her current state. She earns well, has a stable career (in line for promotion soon), can travel a lot etc. Just sometimes after those hardwork, she feels like having someone to talk to, or just to accompany her silently. Yet, is wanting companionship a strong reason for one to consider such a serious commitment?
Frankly speaking, I don't know the answer to that question myself. So, why do people get married then? One could get dozens of reasons why people get married but those reasons not necessarily apply on every individual. I guess we all have to find out the reasons ourselves. It's a part of self-discovering. If in the end, you don't see the need to get married, then you can choose the other path by staying single. To me, just because he treats you too nice so you can't say no to his proposal is not a good reason for getting married. Neither is age approaching 30 or feeling lonely a good reason. Get married when you feel like you want to, don't rush into marriage. However one thing is for sure, get married only when you know how to love and take care of your own.

ung ing: tat's d funniest yet realistic reason that i've ever heard of!
I think one of the common reasons to get married is to have baby and build up a family. But I have once heard one of the funniest reasons is that they want to do "sthg" legally whenever and wherever they want! lol~
Btw, is that you in the picture? Your turn soon? If so, CONGRATS!
susan: yeah, doing 'something' legally is another most common reason why people get married. but i see that people nowadays dun necessarily wait till after they get married... so is it still valid as a reason? heh
